  1. Developer Easy Day Studios has announced that Skater XL will be hitting Xbox One this July, and will feature some playable pro skaters. While the game allows you to create your own custom skater, you can also play as well known skaters Evan Smith, Tiago Lemos, Tom Asta and Brandon Westgate. Skater XL will also feature a map based on downtown Los Angeles, including the LA Convention Center, the Staples Center and loads of buildings, plazas and car packs to skate around to your heart's content. There has been a distinct lack of 3D skating games ever since EA's Skate 3 released back in 2010, and Skater XL is definitely poised to fill that void, giving players direct control of the feet and board, rather than using canned animations, and offering a sandbox for players to really get creative with their skating. The game has been developed by Dain Hedgpeth, a physicist and the creator of Skater App, as well as ex-skateboarder Jon West. Skater XL will release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC in July 2020 - you can check out the latest trailer for the game below. Publisher Deep Silver has revealed upcoming rogue-like survival RPG Windbound, coming to consoles and PC later this year. The game sees you take on the role of Kara, who's been shipwrecked on the coast of the Forbidden Islands, and must use her surroundings and her skills to hunt the 'dynamic wildlife', craft tools and weapons and survive beginning with building - and sailing - a boat so she can navigate around the Forbidden Islands and discover its ruins and many secrets. The boat will be a big part of the game as you have the ability to upgrade it and modify it as necessary to adapt to the changing conditions. There's a trailer for the game, which you can see below and certainly gives the game a very Zelda-esque vibe, landing somewhere between the recent Breath of the Wild on Switch and Wind Waker from the Gamecube - developer 5 Lives Studios in the meantime is boasting talent who've worked on games such as Syndicate, Grand Theft Auto and Darksiders to name but a few. Windbound is set for release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC from the 28th of August, 2020. The Old Ways event will run from the 7th of April until the 21st of the month in Apex Legends on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

  4. Aksys Games has announced Tin & Kuna, a "charming and colourful" 3D puzzle platformer due to launch this autumn. Telling the story of Kuna who must rescue his buddy Tin, the game will task you with rebuilding something called the 'Prime Orb', to contain the chaos that's been unleashed from it. When the pair discover the orb and shatter it, they'll need to put things right when Tin is possessed by the spirits unleashed by the Prime Orb. As Kuna, you'll roll, jump, and manoeuvre your way through 40 levels across four different biomes, with secret treasures to unearth, crystal powers to take advantage of, and more. Said crystal powers will grant strength and abilities to overcome traps and solve the game's various puzzles, as you strive to restore balance to a magical world. Tin & Kuna will be coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in autumn 2020. Check out the announcement trailer below. Developers Cold Symmetry and publisher Playstack have announced their new game Mortal Shell - an action RPG very much in the mould of Dark Souls that they say will be an "uncompromising, authentic and hauntingly beautiful" take on the genre for release later this year on Xbox One. The game, which originally went by the name Dungeonhaven during early development, will see you take on the role of an empty vessel who awakens to find themselves under the thumb of the 'Dark Father' and must take on his mysterious quest in the depths of humnaity. To help, you're able to inhabit the 'Mortal Shells' of fallen warriors to gain their knowledge of skills and weapons, which will help to pick and choose your specific playstyle and class. Combat is said to be "strategic and deliberate" with you being encouraged to only strike when the opportunity arises and a deep upgrade path is promised during the game's non-linear campaign which will see you take on formidable grotesque foes in marsh infested lowlands, cathedrals of obsidian rock and an ancient crypt in the side of a mountain, among others. Mortal Shell is currently scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2020 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Operation 3 Content Announcement Versus Tuning Updates Horde Tuning Updates We’re shifting the arrival time of Operation 3 to an earlier than usual deployment time as we avoid deploying during peak times in Europe to help keep bandwidth impact to a minimum during self-isolation. Operation 3’s TU5 will arrive at ~4am PT on March 31st. The majority of Operation 3’s content will not appear until our live deployment, scheduled for ~7am PT. OPERATION 3 CHARACTER CHALLENGES AND BUNDLE Operation 3 drops four Characters into the Gears 5 roster with the arrival of Cole, Clayton, Myrrah and the Theron Guard. We know you’re keen to get earning these long-time favorites, so we’ve got the details on each of their Totem challenges below. BUT FIRST! You may recall earlier this year that we reduced the time it takes to complete Totem XP challenges to earn your Characters through gameplay. We often hear your references to the leveling up based system of Gears 3 and we’ve taken stock in your feedback about why that felt good. Well, we’ve listened. In Operation 3, each Character only has the XP-based Totem challenge for Character unlocks – no other challenge requirements like do X in Y mode. Additionally, all Character XP Totem Challenges are now set to 30,000 XP – a 50% reduction from the previous requirement of 60,000 XP. We hope that you’ll now enjoy the experience of unlocking Characters much more with the launch of a new Operation as well as earning them at a faster rate. As a note, previous Operation Characters will not be updated to this new Totem approach out of fairness to those who previously earned or purchased them – though they’ll obviously still benefit from our Global XP Rate increases in the latter half of Operation 2. OPERATION 3 BUNDLE For those who prefer to pick up their Characters in one go, we’re kicking off Op 3 with another new Operation bundle! The Operation 3: Gridiron Bundle includes all four new Characters, the complete Hot Rod weapon skin set, 1000 Iron and 30 days of Boost for $19.99. Of course, all Heroes and Villains can either be individually earned by playing or purchased via the in-game store for 500 Iron. Due to some transitioning within the team and adapting to our new work processes, the updated achievement plan did not make the cut in time for launch. If you are an achievement hunter, we apologize for some of the missteps here and we plan to do so something about it. We will be applying for an achievement change exception with the Xbox Team for the Come From Behind achievement, in order to dramatically reduce the comeback number. We’ll keep you apprised of that change and if it is approved. For Re-Ups, along with improving their rewards, our plan is improve the Re-Up leveling curve to reduce the hockey stick effect from Re-Up 20 onwards. In time, we expect the Re-Up 30 achievement to be much more achievable and enjoyable to chase. Finally, we’ll be addressing the odd total Gamerscore in our next achievement drop and making sure we get our achievements right. OPERATION 3 ESCAPE HIVES There’s still plenty to come for Escape with six brand new Hives launching throughout Operation 3, featuring the brand-new Barracks tile set! In the debut Hive launching with Operation 3, aptly named The Barracks, you’ll be in a split path venom race of death. Using the brand new Venom Fan rooms to buy you time from the impending doom of the venom, you can make it to the second act featuring the first ever appearance of the new Barracks tiles! Your reward is better weapons, COG tags and playing in some sweet new combat spaces! If you can’t outrun the Venom, you’ll be pushed into the other path for your second act, featuring no new tiles, no COG tags and less resources. Guess which way we’re headed? OPERATION 3 – RANKED PLAYLIST CHANGES With the release of Operation 3, we’re making some updates to our Ranked Playlists in order to deliver experiences that offer a good time-to-match and an ability to provide balanced skill matches within the mode. This will provide a more comfortable defensive position in the towers for players Icebound: The side windows in the trading post are now always blocked off except for Horde. These changes are to reduce rifle suppression towards the spawn areas and allow more traversal across the map Icebound: The blizzard is now denser and lasts for 30 seconds rather than 15. This change is to allow more opportunities to traverse across the map. In Horde, the timing remains the same but the blizzard will also be denser. Icebound: The blizzard still triggers every 2 minutes for all PVP modes except for Gridiron.   8. THIS WEEK IN GEARS 5 This Week In Gears 5 is our quick-fire Monday update to fill you in on everything happening in-game for Gears 5 over the next week! Here’s what’s coming up for the week of March 3rd – 10th: PLAYLIST UPDATE Beginning on Tuesday, March 3rd, we’ll be making some key changes to the format of our Quickplay offerings as part of an ongoing trial: New Playlist Order (from left to right): Free For All, TDM & KOTH, Arcade, Co-Op vs AI Classic Quickplay: TDM and KOTH only. Removed Guardian, Arms Race, Execution, Dodgeball. TDM in Classic Quickplay: 1 round to win, 20 respawns (was 2 rounds to win, 15 respawns) Our intention behind these changes are the following: Improve our Quickplay offerings to get you to the experiences you want to play Put our most popular modes front and center We use data heavily to understand the behavior of our players. One of the things we’ve consistently seen since Gears 3 is that TDM and KOTH are both our highest populated / voted for modes. We want to put our best experiences front and center in Quickplay, making sure they are easy to discover and play in without having to necessarily dive into Ranked. In addition, we hope the new ordering of Quickplay playlists will result in more players in FFA, giving you faster time to matches and a bigger spotlight on a mode we know many of you love. (Fun fact: Most players who are new to Gears go to the first menu option in Versus, which will now be Quickplay FFA!). We know that some of you out there are die-hard fans of modes like Dodgeball and Arms Race, and that this is likely a tough pill to swallow for you. It was a tough call for us to make too. Ultimately, our goal is to make the game the best it possibly can be. To do that, sometimes we’re going to try some stuff and see what happens. We may get this right or we may not. The plus side is both modes will continue to be available in Public Lobbies but also in Events, where we hope putting a spotlight on them for shorter periods will make them shine brighter thanks to more players and a consistently accessible experience vs fighting votes in Quickplay. Regardless, we’ll be out there reading your feedback as well as monitoring data to determine the full impact of the trial. VERSUS EVENT: DODGEBALL With Dodgeball sunset in Quickplay as part of our new playlist trial, this week we’ll be hosting Dodgeball as our featured Versus event! We’ve also taken one of your favorite parts of our Halloween Dodgeball event – the fast respawns – and added it to this playlist to keep the action flowing. SUPPLY UPDATE: MARIA WEAPON SKINS We saw a great response to the Maria Weapon Skins (Loadout Only) during our Valentine’s Event – so much so that we’ve decided to complete the set and add the rest of the weapon skins to the Supply Pool!
